Travelfusion Cancel For Any Reason

Travelfusion Cancel For Any Reason (tfCFAR) is a service which gives passengers a choice to pay 10% more, and get back 80% of their flight cost, if they decide to cancel later. Once the flight is booked, passengers would declare their intentions using a simple plain webpage hosted on TF's site. They authenticate themselves, and access their booking record, see what fraction of the flight cost can be returned, and can click on a button to initiate the refund procedure. Cancellation can only be done up to 24 hours prior to departure.

This service is currently available for a select number of tfPay enabled customers. The command and syntax of the requests and responses are almost identical to that of the normal booking flow. tfCFAR service is composed of C5 and Web parts. C5 part lets the passengers to purchase the service, and Web part lets them to use that same purchased service. A service can be purchased by providing a special CustomSupplierParameter (CSP) named CancelForAnyReason found in ProcessDetails response. The following actions need to be taken at each stage of the booking flow. Steps 1-4 take place on C5 part, ans steps 5-8 are performed on Web part.

Step 1: View flights which with tfCFAR add-on at Search stage

When checking the flights at Search stage through CheckRouting command, each leg of flight contains a remark about tfCFAR service cost and refund amount. It is usually enclosed with SupplierInfo element, with an informational text saying "Pay XXX EUR now and get back YYY EUR if you cancel later.", where XXX and YYY are surcharge and refund amounts, respectively.

Two options are available with this CSP: y means purchasing tfCFAR, n means ignoring it. The response also contains SupplierInfo element which summarizes the final price of tfCFAR and refund amount, depending on if one-way or round-trip flight is chosen in ProcessDetails request.

Step 5: A passenger clicks on a link mentioned at T&C of tfCFAR

A passenger will be presented with a plain, whitelabeled web page which contains input boxes for PNR and passenger name. These are used to authenticate the passenger.

Step 6: Review the booking record

The passenger clicks on "Show Booking Info" button on the same page, which returns a booking record of passenger, if that booking is protected with tfCFAR.

Step 7: Refund procedure
